EZ Gen~ Tute 003 :: Clock Dividers, Multipliers & Step Sequencing with Rate

Compressing useful MaxMSP / Gen DSP info into 10 mins is an interesting challenge, so much so that it often takes 20 😁 – EZ Gen~ is a tutorial series encouraging both newcomers to MaxMSP and seasoned Max users (who’ve wanted to get into it but haven’t found that entry point) into familiarity with Gen~ patching, DSP and sample accurate processing. We’re getting more familiar with Gen~ now and getting one step closer to building deeper stuff.

Moving forward in our Gen~ pilgrimage toward algorithmic sequencers we cover the basics of sample accurate timing using a master phasor~ we can divide and multiply then slice up into steps. We find a performance use case for the humble [playlist~] object which can function as an all in one glitched out sampler instrument driven by our new step sequencer at signal rate.
